Simon Kitchen leads the strategy team at EFG Hermes. He joined the bank in 2007, initially covering MENA economics. He shifted to strategy coverage in 2010, and has built out strategy coverage for MENA and, more recently, frontier market in Africa and Asia. He has over 25 years of experience in MENA markets, covering EM index upgrades for Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE and Qatar, and was based in Cairo for EFG Hermes between 2007-2018.ย
Before joining EFG, he worked for Eurasia Group, a political risk consultancy, in New York and Cairo, leading the firmโs coverage of Egypt, Iran and Israel. Simon studied at Edinburgh University in Scotland and also completed a masters in international relations at Columbia University in New York.
