Overview
Sarah Shaw is the CEO of the National CSR Fund ‘Majra,’ a purpose-driven federal government entity, dedicated to supporting impactful, sustainable projects that foster economic empowerment, environmental conservation, and social well-being. By uniting private sector businesses, government entities, and community organizations, we aim to create long-term value and measurable impact that aligns with the UAEโ€™s Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Established under the UAE Ministerial Cabinet Decision No. 2 for 2018, Majra plays a crucial role in aligning initiatives with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UAE National Priorities, while ensuring adherence to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) metrics. The Majra Fund supports impactful social initiatives that strengthen the UAE’s position as a leader in CSR, ESG and Sustainability within its private sector.
Achievements and Areas of Expertise
Prior to her current role, Sarah had made significant contributions to the prestigious COP28 conference, where she managed strategic engagements with all UAE government entities (federal and local) to ensure active participation in the political event. She was effective in spearheading the development of the COP28 climate education portfolio and strategy, which covered early childhood education, Kโ€“12, higher education, and green jobs. She launched the first-ever Green Skills Fair during COP28 and ensured the adoption of the declaration on the common agenda for education and climate change.
Sarah was also the Head of Strategy at The Executive Office of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Head of Programs Management in the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development. She has a proven track record of leading high-impact projects, such as the relaunch of the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Leadership Development strategy and Impactful Leaders Program. She also led the launch of Public Talks in the World Government Summit in 2019 where over 1,000 university students and educators benefited from talks by international renowned speakers on subjects like government services, education, and sustainability.
Sarah also oversaw the development of the ground-breaking โ€˜Archive Hackathon with National Library and Archives 2023,โ€™ which brought together more than 60 participants from local colleges and universities to assess innovative concepts for community engagement using archived materials, further underscoring her capabilities as a dynamic leader.
Certifications and Academic History
Sarah holds an Executive Masterโ€™s in Public Administration from Zayed University and a BSc in International Hospitality Management from The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management. She further refined her innovation and leadership skills through IDEOโ€™s Chief Design Officer program and the Future Leaders Program (Cohort 4) in the UAE Government Leaders Program. Sarah is also a Certified Professional Coach (CPC) by the International Coaching Federation, with additional certifications in Change Management (PROSCI) and Personnel Practice (CIPD, UK).
