Roberto Hoornweg sits on Standard Chartered’s Group Management Team as Co-Head of the Bank’s global Corporate & Investment Banking division. He also has Management Team responsibility for all of the Group’s activities in Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Africa.
Roberto is a seasoned global financial markets and banking industry leader with more than 30 years of experience across the banking industry. He joined Standard Chartered in 2017 as Global Head of Financial Markets, leading the teams who help some of the world’s largest corporates and financial institutions with risk management, transaction services, financing and research in fixed income, currencies, commodities across more than 50 markets.
Before joining Standard Chartered, Roberto led Brevan Howard Asset Management’s Liquid Portfolio Strategies funds business. He previously spent three years at UBS Investment Bank in London, leading the global Securities Distribution business and then co-heading the global Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities division.
Roberto’s banking experience was honed during a 17-year period at Morgan Stanley, where he held various senior roles in fixed income derivatives, led the global Emerging Markets Fixed Income & FX business, and was latterly Head of Global Interest Rates, Credit and Currencies.
He holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a dual citizen of Italy and the Netherlands, a Singapore Permanent Resident and is married with two children. He is currently based in Dubai.
