Rebeca Grynspan is the current Director-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD). She is a Costa Rican economist and diplomat who has held various positions in the public and private sectors. She was the Vice President of Costa Rica from 2006 to 2010, and has served as the Secretary of the Presidency of Costa Rica, the Minister of Planning and Economic Policy, and the Minister of Foreign Trade. She has also held various positions in the private sector, including as a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank. Grynspan has a degree in economics from the University of Costa Rica and a master’s degree in public administration from Harvard University. She is a strong advocate for gender equality and women’s empowerment, and has worked to promote sustainable development and economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.
