Hiroshi Hasegawa

Executive director, JETRO Dubai and Special advisor to the Minister, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI), Japanese government

Mr. Hasegawa is executive director at JETRO Dubai and special advisor to the Minister, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry(METI), Japanese government. He is supporting Japanese government through supporting the VIP visit to middle east, providing analysis of global geopolitical issues from Middle East perspectives, helping to realize energy projects including hydrogen, and facilitating financial cooperation between middle east and Japan.

He joined METI in 2004. Since then he has professional experience ranging from Small and Medium Enterprise Policy, Trade Policy, Public Relations at Prime Ministerโ€™s Office, National Space Policy at Cabinet Office, and Manufacturing Industries Policies.

Between 2019 to 2022, Mr. Hasegawa served as the Director for METIโ€™s Energy Demand and Supply Policy Office, Policy Coordination Division, Agency of Natural Resources and Energy, where he spearheaded energy finance (dealt with EU taxonomy and launched transition finance), energy innovation (launched the 15-billion-USD energy innovation fund supporting clean energies including hydrogen and ammonia) and energy regulation (amended related laws ranging from energy efficiency, electricity business permission, and energy finance for hydrogen and ammonia).
