H.E. Fatima Al Sairafi

Minister of Tourism of the Kingdom of Bahrain

Mrs. Al Sairafi currently holds the position of Minister of Tourism in the Kingdom of Bahrain. She is also the Chairman of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA), and is a member of the United Nations Tourism Executive Council, Follow-up committee for the implementation of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism (Bahrainouna), and the Higher Authority for Hawar Islands Development

In her capacity as the Chairman of the Bahrain Tourism & Exhibitions Authority, Mrs. Al Sairafi oversees two fundamental institutions in the Tourism sector in Bahrain: Exhibition World Bahrain and VATEL Hotel & Tourism Business School.

Mrs. Al Sairafi was previously Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). Before her post in the BTEA, Mrs. Al Sairafi was at the National Communication Center (NCC) where she was part of the team who set up the National Communication Centre (NCC). During her time at the NCC, she held the position of Director of Strategic Planning and the Director of Communication and Media Relations in which she supervised the development and implementation of the governmentโ€™s communication strategy and facilitated communication between different government bodies with regional and international stakeholders.

Mrs. Al Sairafi also headed the Government Communication Department at the Ministry of Information Affairs prior to joining the NCC, where she managed strategic communication and media projects. She previously held the role of a Senior Researcher.

Prior to joining the government sector, Mrs. Al Sairafi worked in the banking sector in areas related to private equity and investment portfolio management in Ibdaar Bank and The Family Office in Bahrain as well as Wells Fargo in the United States of America.

Mrs. Al Sairafi holds a bachelor degree of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom, a masterโ€™s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing and Managing Change from DePaul University in the United States of America and an Executive Business Fellowship Program Certificate from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania in the United States of America and a specialized certificate in diplomatic studies from Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa Academy for Diplomatic Studies.
