H.E. Daniela Santanchè

Minister of Tourism of the Italian Republic

In 1998, she founded the non-profit organization “Solidarietà 2000”, which deals with artistic, cultural, and work activities of San Vittore and children, of which she was President.

She began her political career during the Albertini administration as a consultant to the Councilor Serena Marazzin for fashion and major events of the municipality of Milan. She was elected Provincial Councilor in June 1999 in the Province of Milan, where she was President of the Culture Commission and the Fashion Consultation. In June 2001, the individual became a Deputy in the Lombardy constituency and was appointed as a member of the Fifth Permanent Commission on Budget, Treasury, and Programming the following month, later, she became the Vice President of the commission in January. From January 2003 to June 2004, she was a Municipal Councilor with responsibility for culture, sports, and major events in Ragalna, Catania. She was appointed a member of the socio-economic consultation for government policies and Head of the Department for Equal Opportunities. The following year, she was the first woman in Italy to be appointed as a rapporteur for the Financial Law and chaired the Control Committee for public spending in the Budget Commission. In 2006, she continued to serve as a member of the Budget Commission after being re-elected to Parliament. She was the first woman to be a candidate for Prime Minister in 2007. In 2010, she was appointed Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council with responsibility for implementing the government program. After being re-elected to Parliament in 2013, she served on the IV Finance Commission, XIV EU Policies Commission, and XI Public and Private Employment Commission. In 2018, she was elected to the Senate and joined the Permanent Commission on Industry, Commerce, and Tourism in June of the same year. She also became a member of the Parliamentary Commission for the general direction and supervision of radio and television services in July. She was appointed Minister of Tourism in October 2022.
