Anton Buttigieg

CEO of Trade Malta

Mr Buttigieg is the Chief Executive Officer at TradeMalta, Malta’s trade promotion organisation. He has held this position since TradeMalta’s inception in 2015. TradeMalta is a public private partnership between the Government of Malta and the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry. Under his leadership the organisation has actively promoted internationalisation opportunities beyond what are considered as Malta’s traditional export markets, including Sub- Saharan Africa and the Middle East. To this effect, he successfully lobbied with the Government of Malta to open Malta’s first Sub-Saharan diplomatic representations in Ghana and Ethiopia. Anton currently serves a Vice-President and Board Member at Trade Promotion Europe, an non-profit association of national and regional trade and agrifood promotion organisations, whose goal is to strengthen European trade through better coordination and information sharing.

Mr Buttigieg holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Economics from the University of Malta and a master’s in international economics and management, from SDA Bocconi. Anton has held various senior managerial posts in the private sector before joining TradeMalta.
