Ahmad Ali Alwan is the CEO of Hub71, Abu Dhabi’s global tech ecosystem. Ahmad plays a central role in shaping Hub71’s value proposition and the depth of its ecosystem with the aim of attracting the world’s most promising startups to Abu Dhabi and increasing market and funding opportunities for technology ventures and companies within its community. Ahmad was a founding member of Hub71 from its inception in 2019, and previously held the position of Deputy CEO, overseeing various functions including strategy, stakeholder management, finance, investor engagement and operations.
Prior to his role at Hub71, Ahmad was a Senior Vice President at the UAE Investments Platform at Mubadala Investment Company, where he managed a portfolio of UAE-based Aerospace and Technology assets including Strata, Sanad, Group 42 and Hub71. The platform aims to incubate new sectors, diversify the UAE’s economy, and accelerate the nation’s economic transformation.
Previously, Ahmad supported the launch of Abu Dhabi Catalyst Partners, a Mubadala initiative with a mandate of achieving financial returns and contributing to the overall development of the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) investment ecosystem.
Prior to that, Ahmad was part of Mubadala’s Portfolio Strategy team and contributed to formulating the corporate strategy, overlaying internal and stakeholder objectives as well as supporting Mubadala’s leadership with special projects. As part of this role, Ahmad served as the working committee secretary and part of the project management office for the Mubadala-IPIC merger in 2016-2017. He began his career within Mubadala Capital’s Private Equity fund investment team.
Ahmad holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the American University of Sharjah, and a master’s degree in International Business and Emerging Markets from the University of Edinburgh. Ahmad is CAIA charter-holder.
