Serge Ekue

President

Mr. Serge Ekué is President of the West African Development Bank (BOAD), having taken office on 28 August 2020. BOAD is the development finance institution serving the WAEMU region, and under his leadership the Bank is advancing its Djoliba 2021–2025 strategic plan to support regional integration, resilient growth, and high-impact investment across member countries.

Mr. Ekué brings more than 20 years of international experience across capital markets, structured finance, and investment banking. Prior to BOAD, he held senior leadership roles at Natixis, including Senior Country Manager for the United Kingdom and Head of Global Markets, EMEA, based in London. He previously led Natixis Global Markets for Asia-Pacific (2010–2016) and went on to serve as CEO of the bank based in Hong Kong.

Internationally, Mr. Ekué is Chair of the International Development Finance Club (IDFC), reflecting his focus on scaling climate and development finance and strengthening cooperation among public development banks. He holds an Executive MBA from HEC Paris, and postgraduate qualifications in Banking & Finance.
