Prof. Qing Liu is the Director of the National Innovation Center par Excellence (NICE) and serves as President of Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI), Shanghai Yangtze Delta Innovation Institute (SYDII) and Anhui Yangtze Delta Innovation Institute (AYDII).
Prof. Liu's academic and professional background spans both international and domestic institutions. He previously served as a Senior Researcher at the Risø National Laboratory in Denmark and held a series of key academic roles in China, including Director of the Institute of Metal Materials at Tsinghua University, Deputy Director of the Key Laboratory of Advanced Materials under the Ministry of Education, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Chongqing University, Vice President of Chongqing University, and Director of the Chongqing Automotive Collaborative Innovation Center.
In November 2014, Prof. Liu was appointed Executive Director of JITRI, later assuming the role of President. Under his leadership, the National Innovation Center par Excellence was established in 2021, creating a landmark integrated platform for industrial technology innovation. The center has since become a pivotal driver of innovation in the Yangtze Delta region of China, aligning R&D capabilities, infrastructure, and industrial needs. Prof. Liu has spearheaded systemic reforms in areas such as R&D governance, talent recruitment and development, performance-based incentives, and the strategic use of public funds - advancing a robust innovation ecosystem in one of China's most dynamic regions.
